User uploads
Store user uploads and erase them on request
Tag every upload with the person it belongs to
(owner_ref). When that person asks to be forgotten, one call erases
their files and answers with the number of objects erased —
your privacy process checks execution, not intention.
Deleting, and proving it
POST /api/v1/erase { "owner_ref": "user-4471" }
→ { "files_removed": 37 }
Rows and bytes both go. A separate call removes one object
(DELETE /api/v1/object) when a person deletes a single photo rather
than their whole account.
If any object under this owner_ref is linked to a Keepix stock item, including a withdrawn item, erase returns 409 asset_in_stock before deleting anything. The original must stay available for existing licences. Keep stock and ordinary uploads under different owner_ref values; account closure needs a separate review.
The service keeps no record of whose file a given object is.
It stores bytes. The link between a file and a person lives in your database,
where it belongs — and owner_ref is the handle you pass so that the
erase call can find everything at once.
What happens on intake
- the type is read from the bytes, not from the file name;
- the file is scanned for viruses; if the scanner is down, intake refuses
with
503rather than storing an unchecked file; - the image is re-encoded, so EXIF and GPS are gone — see stripping metadata;
- SVG is refused always: it is a script container, not a picture.
Addresses that cannot be guessed
A file in a private library is protected by an unguessable address, and the cabinet says exactly that rather than calling it private. If you need a link that dies, issue it from your side and keep the keepix address to yourself.

The free plan holds 1 GB and needs no card; paid plans start at $5 a month. Above a paid package storage is metered per gigabyte instead of the intake stopping — a product with user uploads should not go down because a Tuesday was busier than expected.
